Instech Solomon

For more than 30 years Instech has been the equipment partner to engineers and researchers in medicine and biology. They are a unique resource in the field of biological oxygen monitoring, a designer of small laboratory pumps and a leader in laboratory animal infusion research.

Swivels for Continuous Animal Infusion

The swivel, a device that rotates to keep the catheter from tangling, is a critical part of any continuous animal infusion system. The Instech fluid swivel has been in laboratory use for over 30 years and has earned a reputation as the finest in the industry.

Tethers for Continuous Animal Infusion

Instech's animal infusion tethers help protect cannulae while transmitting torque to a swivel. Instech's primary goal when designing these tethers has been to make them as unobtrusive as possible so that they do not alter the animals' behavior.

P720 Peristaltic Pump

Instech's laboratory peristaltic pumps deliver the accurate low flow rates of syringe pumps without the limits on delivered volume. They are ideal for animal IV infusion, tissue perfusion, and other low-flow laboratory applications. The pumps fit in the palm of your hand and weigh about 600gms.

Automated Blood Sampling

Instech's ABS110 automates the collection of blood samples from a range of laboratory animal species including mice, rats, dogs and non-human primates. By eliminating laborintensive periodic manual withdrawals it can streamline drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics studies. It also reduces the stress on animals that frequent handling can cause.

Plastic Feeding Tubes

More and more researchers are converting to plastic feeding tubes to reduce the risk of trauma and for the simplicity of a low cost, disposable device for oral gavage. These feeding tubes feature medical grade materials to minimize the risk st compounds. The tube is constructed of polypropylene, the same material used in plastic syringes. The soft, bulb-shaped tip is fabricated from medical grade silicone and is designed to prevent inadvertent placement in the trachea and reduce the risk of trauma and perforation.

The feeding tubes are available in a variety of diameters and lengths for use in most small laboratory animals.

Oxygen Measurement

Instech’s oxygen monitoring systems are frequently used for biological measurements such as mitochondrial oxygen uptake, islet oxygen consumption rate (OCR) and enzyme reaction rates. Instech offers its original polarographic electrode-based systems, newer systems that use cardmounted spectrometers and fiber optic probes, and a range of chambers for fixed or flowing samples.
