Key Benefits

  • WAD cyanide measurement confirmed — measures WAD/Available Cyanide, Free Cyanide, and Total Cyanide — covering all speciation forms required for mining process water and ICMC compliance monitoring
  • Fully automated operation — automatic calibration, range-switching, and off-scale dilution up to 100× — runs unattended without consuming reagents in standby mode
  • Bench-top, portable, and online — same instrument used as a laboratory bench unit, inline online analyser, or deployed to site for field measurements and emergency response
  • Industrial-grade construction — IP55-rated enclosure with separated electronics and hydraulics; 14 kg for portability; 4–20 mA and ModBus connectivity for plant integration

Overview

The Systea Micromac Compact is a microprocessor-controlled wet chemistry water analyser designed for laboratory, online, and on-site deployment. It measures over 50 chemical parameters including all three cyanide speciation forms — WAD/Available Cyanide, Free Cyanide (air stripping or distillation method), and Total Cyanide — making it particularly suited to mining process water and tailings monitoring where regulatory compliance requires accurate cyanide speciation.

The analyser is fully automated: calibration, range-switching, off-scale dilution (up to 100×), and data logging all occur without operator intervention. Electronics and hydraulics are completely separated for industrial durability, and the IP55-rated enclosure makes it suitable for harsh site environments. Sample volume is 50–80 mL per analysis and reagents last 3–5 weeks between changes, minimising ongoing maintenance requirements.

Up to four simultaneous measurement points can be configured in the multiparametric version. Process connectivity is comprehensive — 4–20 mA outputs (galvanically insulated), RS232, optional RS485 ModBus RTU/TCP, and relay alarm contacts. An optional 8-position portable autosampler enables automated sequential processing of field-collected samples. The Micromac Compact arrives factory-tested and includes a startup kit, requiring minimal installation and operator training.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which cyanide forms can the Micromac Compact measure?

The Micromac Compact supports WAD/Available Cyanide, Free Cyanide (by air stripping method or distillation method), Total Cyanide (UV and distillation), Cyanide Amperometric (ISO 20950-1 compatible), and Cyanide Index. Contact Walker Scientific to confirm the specific method configuration and regulatory compliance (ISO 14403, USEPA, ICMC) for your application.

Can the Micromac Compact be used on-site at a mine without a laboratory setup?

Yes. The Micromac Compact is specifically designed for bench-top, online, and on-site use. It arrives factory-tested with a startup kit included. The optional 8-position portable autosampler enables automated processing of up to 8 field-collected samples. No special installation is required for on-site deployment.

How often do reagents need to be replaced?

Reagents typically require replacement every 3–5 weeks, depending on measurement frequency. The analyser runs in low-power standby mode between analyses without consuming reagents, extending reagent life between campaigns.

Does the Micromac Compact require continuous operator attention?

No. The analyser is fully automated — it performs automatic calibration, range-switching, and off-scale dilution (up to 100×) without operator intervention. Alarm relay contacts and 4–20 mA outputs notify process control systems of out-of-specification events.

Can the Micromac Compact integrate with our plant control system (PLC/SCADA)?

Yes. The standard configuration includes 4–20 mA outputs (galvanically insulated, per method/stream) and RS232. Optional RS485 and ModBus RTU/TCP connectivity enables direct integration with plant PLCs and SCADA systems.

Safety Note

This instrument uses wet chemistry reagents for cyanide analysis. Always follow the safety data sheets provided with each reagent kit. Wear appropriate PPE and work in a well-ventilated area when preparing and handling cyanide reagents.
